About Parkwood Camera Club

Parkwood Camera Club in Rainham Kent is affiliated to the Kent County Photographic Association and the Photographic Association of Great Britain (PAGB). We are a vibrant and growing club founded in 1980 so we are a fairly young club compared to other clubs that originated in the early 1900s. However membership has been growing steadily and we now have over 60 members making us one of the larger clubs in the Kent area.

The club has recently invested in state of the art digital projector which complements the new digital projection facilties at the Parkwood community centre. We have also purchased brand new Bowens studio lighting to further improve the variety of studio lights available on studio night shoots. The studio lights are available for members to hire at reasonable fees. We also own a Spyder monitor calibration tool that is available for members to loan to calibrate their computer monitors. Both of these are benefits of club membership in addition to the programme of events during the year.

We have a wide range of male and female members from school leavers upwards who have a complete mix of cameras from 35mm SLR, medium format and a variety of digital models so we welcome members who have an interest in photography regardless of the equipment you use.

As an example of the variety of equipment we have members who have professional digital camera equipment costing several thousands pounds, members with compact digital cameras and 35mm film cameras but the winning entry of a recent competition was taken on black and white film with a basic old Russian medium format camera costing only a few pounds.

Parkwood Photographic Society meets at Parkwood Community Centre in Rainham and has a varied programme including studio nights, lectures and hands-on demonstrations. A three round internal club competition is run throughout the year with a trophy, the Parkwood Cup, for the member with the highest points. We also have competitions with other clubs during the year along with informal displays of members work.

New members are always welcome, please e-mail or contact a member of the committee for more information.

If you would like to join or come along to a meeting if you are considering membership then please contact a member of the committee via the contact page.
